Managing and Supporting Mental Health Issues

“When all you see is darkness”

Charlie Hodson is an award-winning and widely respected chef from Norfolk, and a former Commercial Patron of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Norfolk. Throughout his career, Charlie has been a passionate advocate of the farm-to-plate journey and a powerful force in connecting farmers, growers and suppliers directly with chefs – strengthening the true meaning of supporting local.

Now retired from the commercial hospitality world, Charlie devotes his time to family life and his second great love, Hospitality Action. As a proud Patron of the charity, he speaks openly and honestly about his personal journey, including a lifetime of battling mental health challenges and alcohol addiction.

Following his last suicide attempt in August 2019, Charlie slowly found his way back to a life filled with purpose and joy, thanks to the extraordinary support of Hospitality Action and their simple but powerful message: “We’ve got you”.
