Panel: Simon Billing - Eating Better; Kristin Bash, Faculty of Public Health and Sarah Ouanhnon - NHS Greener Team

The panel will look at the role that hospital catering needs to play as the government pushes the country towards a net zero outcome over the next two to three decades and what associated benefits it may bring.  Sarah will look at what strategies the NHS greener team are implementing to support trusts to achieve these aims.

Simon will advise on how serving plant-based food can significantly contribute towards net zero and improve social value.  Lastly Kristin will tell us tell us about the co-benefits of sustainable diets from a population health/public health perspective.

Sarah Ouanhnon is a Senior Net Zero Delivery Lead in the Greener NHS Programme at NHS England and NHS Improvement.
Passionate about making a positive difference to people’s lives, Sarah has led a variety of large-scale change programmes to optimise delivery of care in primary, acute and community care settings. Building on her expertise in population health management, she has also helped support the design of more integrated care across settings. For the past 10 years Sarah has worked for a range of organisations within care provision, the pharmaceutical industry and consulting, in the UK and the French healthcare systems.
Keen to address the threat that climate change poses to population health and to tackle growing health inequalities, Sarah joined the Greener NHS programme, where she leads the delivery of the NHS net zero commitment across Medicines, Supply Chain and Food.
